Not sure what to expect? Where to go? What to wear?

What should I expect at my first visit?
Before your first appointment, you’ll complete a detailed intake form to help guide our conversation. We’ll spend time talking about your symptoms, health history, and goals. The physical exam will be tailored to you and may include movement, posture, strength, and a pelvic floor assessment—only if you're comfortable. Afterward, we’ll review findings and start building your treatment plan.

What should I wear?
Wear comfortable clothes you can move in—like for yoga or light exercise. Movements may include squatting, stretching, or strengthening exercises.

How do I find the office?
As of September 1st, we are conveniently located at the junction of 64/264 off the Newtown Rd exit. Address is 6350 Center Drive Ste 131. ICC Koger building number 5. From the front door entrance, turn left and walk towards the end of the hallway, Tidewater Pelvic Health is the second to last door on your right.

How often will I need to come?
It depends on your goals and symptoms.
-
Phase 1 ("figuring it out"): weekly
-
Phase 2 ("feel better"): every 1–3 weeks
-
Phase 3 ("do more"): monthly
-
Phase 4 ("live without limits"): every 2–3 months

Can I bring my children?
Yes! We welcome little ones—childcare should never be a barrier to care.

When should I start postpartum care?
You don’t have to wait! Pregnancy visits can prepare your body for birth and postpartum recovery. If you’re having symptoms or discomfort during pregnancy, pelvic PT can help right away. Early postpartum visits within the first two weeks are safe and very beneficial. But it’s never too late either! We are here for you whenever you are ready.

Will I need an internal pelvic exam?
Internal exams can be helpful, but they’re never required. We’ll explain everything and only proceed with your full consent. Internal exams and treatment are not performed during your first trimester of pregnancy, during your first six weeks postpartum, or if you are ever placed on pelvic rest during pregnancy or due to a procedure.

Do I need a referral?
No referral is needed to start! Some insurance companies may require one for reimbursement—check your plan for details.

Do you accept insurance?
All of our services are covered by your out of network benefits. We provide a 'superbill' for you to submit to your insurance. HSA, FSA and CareCredit are accepted.
